About the Path (spirtual practice)

About the Path

The Path is a spiritual practice that gives life its true meaning. Life was not given to us simply to live. The sadhana* (agya) of The Path consists of three pillars : meditation, service and satsang, and a set of recommendations, angas.

* Sanskrit word meaning : "What to do" which refers to all the practices of a spiritual path (màrga).

The Path agrees with the Buddha’s teaching, which he called the “dharma”. It also agrees with the mysticism of Lao-Tzu and Patanjali.

The service has to do with what Lao-Tzu called "Wu Wei" or "inaction". In the Bhagavad-gītā, it is the abandonment of the fruit of his acts or "devotional service". Satsang is the sharing of words inspired by the Observance of the agya. It is difficult to speak of The Path.

Lao-Tzu said in this regard: "The dao* that can be said, is not the Dao (The Whole), creator of heaven and earth. The nameless received a name when Men were created. He who controls desire sees eternal essence in form. Man submitted to desire sees only ephemeral forms. In the Dao there is the unmanifested and the manifested. Both are profound things. The doors through which one could escape from the mystery were unanimously proclaimed as difficult to know" (Dao-De-Jing, 1:1).

* This word means in Ancient Chinese: "The Path." When it refers to dharma or practice, it is written with a lowercase “d”. When it designates the Whole, it is written with a capital «D».

The Path is related to the mystics of Lao Tzu and Gautama, the historical Buddha. I want to clarify that Lao-Tzu was not Taoist, nor was Gautama Buddhist. Lao-Tzu and sri Gautama were initiated by masters. That of Lao-Tzu was not Taoist, that of the Buddha was not Buddhist; he was Jain (Mahavira).

“Having received the knowledge of the real nature of the soul, the initiate can master the mind, which allows it to detach itself from the fruit of its acts, so it tastes the delights of harmony, of its Grace.” (The Bhagavad-Gita, 2:39-41)

"If you say, Behold, the Kingdom is in the sky, then the birds of the sky will precede you; if you say it is in the sea, then the fish will precede you. But the Kingdom is within you, and it is outside you." (The Gospel according to Thomas, logion 3)

So The Path, Christian? No, Jesus was neither Christian nor Jewish. He was born Jewish by his mother, but Judaism is not hereditary. Jesus gave a teaching inspired by the East, which can be found in the "Dao-De-Jing", "The Bhagavad-Gita", the "Yogasûtra" (well translated) and the "Bhaktimàrga" (The Book of The Path).

Misinformed commentators say that The Path is a syncretism. What does the dictionary say about syncretism? "Philosophical or religious system which tends to merge several different doctrines." (Larousse)

The Path does not mix doctrines: these doctrines are no different. Read carefully the various reference texts to be sure. It is the lack of understanding that has made this unique teaching different doctrines.

Because of epochs, countries, languages and translation errors, many observers or commentators assumed that these were different doctrines. The Path is not new, reading the scriptures*, we understand how old it is.

* Attention to translation.

The teaching of The Path wants to make his observer live what he is supposed to live during his existence, from a spiritual point of view. Unity, detachmentinactionhumilitysimplicity have to do with that.
